Salvos raise $7m with door-knock appeal

The Salvation Army says it has raised almost $7 million following a generous response to its annual Red Shield Appeal door-knock campaign.
Interim results released on Sunday show the door-knock campaign yielded a 1.6 per cent increase on the 2010 door-knock weekend, the Salvos said.
The Salvos' communications director, Major Peter Sutcliffe, said while the goal of $10 million had not been met, early indicators were showing it was within reach.
